How this Course works

These should more or less be self-explanatory: Go through all the text and videos, Bonus material is not mandatory, but for the interested student. The questions are meant for self-checking whether you have understood everything. The questions also represent the key content you should take away from this chapter — meaning, this is what you should know (for the exam and for life afterwards; after all, we do owe at least that much to the taxpayers).

In the in-person session follwing a unit, we will not be going over the Instant Reviews/Quiz — but of course, we can and will discuss any questions or uncertainties you may have. I will also bring exercises that aim to place the entire unit into a meaningful context (that is the plan, at least). As the course progresses, this overarching context will gradually extend across multiple — or even all — units, so that we are not just learning isolated chunks of knowledge, but rather understanding what they mean in relation to each other, how they help us make sense of the Earth, and how geochemistry takes shape through this understanding. That is the idea behind the ›flipped classroom‹ method.

Please use the feedback form at the bottom of the list to the left for feedback, corrections, etc.

Enjoy the course!
